On The Record

The Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at the Providence Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan., has received certification from the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.

The program usually consists of classes on heart-related topics and exercise for four to 12 weeks, including treadmill running and walking, weight training, and bicycling.

Michele Faris-Rowe, the hospital’s Cardiology Services director, said that the certification looks at every aspect of the program, and ensures that the care given will meet the national guidelines and requirements.
