Truman Medical Center, or TMC, will sponsor its fourth annual Evening Under the Stars Saturday, Aug. 22.

The event will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. in the main lobby atrium of TMC Lakewood, 7900 Lee’s Summit Road.

The facility aims to raise $10,000 through the event. The money will help to provide babies born at TMC with HALO SleepSacks. The HALO SleepSack is a swaddle blanket designed to keep infants warm while they sleep, and eliminate the need for loose blankets in the crib. This will help reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.

Dave Eckert, Lee’s Summit tribune lifestyle Editor and host “Culinary Travels with Dave Eckert” on PBS will host the event.

Treat America, The Big Biscuit and Gomer’s will provide food and wine, and jazz trio Diverse will perform. There will also be an art exhibit featuring watercolor paintings and sculptures.

Tickets can be purchased in advance for $25 or at the door for $30. Contact Shannon Ray at (816) 404-9710 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it for more information.
