KU eye center opens optical store

The University of Kansas Eye Center added a new optical shop on July 1.

Operated by the department of ophthalmology from the University of Kansas Medical Center, the optical shop will provide patients with the opportunity to browse more than 500 frames. Patients can also fill prescriptions for eyeglasses, frames, sunglasses, readers and contact lenses.

The new optical shop can accept prescriptions from all providers and will also accept insurance from many providers, including VSP, Superior Vision, Medicare and Medicaid.

The optical shop will be open Monday through Friday, from 7:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. and until 6 p.m. on Thursdays.
