The Kansas Department of Health and Environment and the Men’s Health Network celebrated National Men’s Health Week June 15-21.
The week focused on the importance of men’s health. The lifespan of men is about six years less than that of women, but men can live longer, healthier lives through health screenings, preventive medicine and healthy behaviors. A tobacco free lifestyle, physically active and a balanced diet can also help men stay healthy. “National Men’s Health Week is important because men’s health problems impact not only themselves, but their parents, wives, children, brothers and sisters,” said Dr. Jason Eberhart-Phillips, director of health. “Men’s health is truly a family issue.”
